Overview
This Tawang tour package follows one of India's great mountain roads, climbing from the Assam plains through the Himalayan foothills to the Monpa town of Tawang at about 3,000 m. We break the journey sensibly at Bhalukpong and Dirang so you can acclimatise and enjoy the scenery rather than spend all day in the car.
Highlights include crossing Sela Pass at 4,170 m, the Jaswant Garh memorial and Nuranang Falls, Tawang Monastery's morning prayers, the Tawang War Memorial, and — for Indian citizens with the special permit — an excursion to Madhuri (Shungatser) Lake and Bum La on the Indo-China border. The return via Bomdila completes a circuit of western Arunachal's monasteries, valleys and passes.
