Overview

This Kaziranga and Majuli tour covers Assam's four great themes — wildlife, tea, living culture and history — in six relaxed days. Starting in Guwahati with Kamakhya Temple and the Brahmaputra, you travel east to Kaziranga for rhino safaris, then into the heart of Upper Assam's tea country for a night in a heritage planter's bungalow near Jorhat.

From Nimati Ghat a ferry carries you to Majuli, the vast river island where Vaishnavite satras preserve Sattriya dance, devotional music and the craft of Bhaona masks. The journey ends at Sivasagar, the former Ahom capital, with the Rang Ghar pavilion, Talatal Ghar palace and the towering Shivadol temple, before departure from Dibrugarh or Jorhat.
