Night in Longwa on the Myanmar border, Konyak elders & Angh's houses, Shangnyu carved panel, Ungma, oldest Ao village, Kohima
Overview
This Konyak country tour explores Nagaland's far north-east, where the Konyak Nagas preserve one of the most striking cultures in India. Starting from Jorhat in Assam, you cross into Mon district to visit villages with powerful Anghs, giant log drums and the last tattooed elders.
A night in Longwa, where the chief's house straddles the India–Myanmar border, is the highlight. The journey continues south-west to Mokokchung, cultural home of the Ao Nagas, and finally to Kohima before departing from Dimapur — a complete north-to-south crossing of Nagaland.
